Awami Workers Party President Abid Hassan Manto has clarified that his party does not consider Gilgit-Baltistan as a “integral, constitutional and historical part of Kashmir”.

Dear Journalist Friends in GB. Recently some people in Social Media have been circulating AWP Pakistan President Abid Hassan Manto’s statement quoting that he has declared GB an ‘Integral constitutional and historical part of Kashmir’. AWP UK recently organized an international convention in London in wich Manto sahab and Akhter Hussain (Senior Vice Chairman) came from Pakistan and AWP leaders & Comrades from Europe participated. In our presentation, we asked Manto sahab’s views on the statement. Manto sahab’s reiterated, “AWP considers GB as an independent entity within Pakistan and that it has no constitutional and legal linkage neither with Kashmir and nor with the Kahmir dispute as the people of GB had liberated their region from Kashmir back in November 1947 and had annexed the region with Pakistan.” He also shared with us the copy of AWP Manifesto wherein on page 28 it has clearly mentioned that AWP considers Jammu-Kashmir, Azad Kashmir and GB as three independent entities. Let it be clear that such rumors circulated in Social Media are baseless which are solely amied at sabotaging the election campaign of Comrade Baba Jan. This is also an attempt to playdown the growing popularity of the leftist class struggle generally in Pakistan and particularly in GB, where people are demanding their basic human and constitutional rights. We sincerely hope that the the respected journalists in GB will highlight this press release in their repective newspapers.

Regards

Abid Hassan Manto, President Awami Workers Party.
